🛢️ Midday Trade: Playing the Energy Demand Boom
Plus, a potential competitor to the New York Stock Exchange
Pencils down, it’s time for lunch. Here’s what you missed this morning:
🟩 | Market Snapshot: The S&P 500 and the Nasdaq Composite rose with Nvidia hitting record territory and leading major tech stocks higher.
✂️ | In focus: The European Central Bank is set to leapfrog the Fed by cutting rates on June 6th. This will be the ECB’s first rate cut in nearly five years and will be one of the first times it has led interest rate cycles ahead of the Federal Reserve.
🏛️ | Noteworthy: It looks like the New York Stock Exchange is about to get some real competition. A group backed by BlackRock and Citadel plans to start its own national stock exchange in Texas. The Texas Stock Exchange has already raised roughly $120 million and hopes to offer an alternative to what they view as over-regulation at the NYSE and Nasdaq.

Looking younger was once thought to be a luxury that only women who had access to plastic surgery and costly professional treatments could enjoy.
So while the rich and famous stayed ‘ageless’ — the rest of us just learned to accept our lines, wrinkles, and sagging skin as an inevitable part of life.
A Game-Changing Discovery is finally leveling the playing field, as more women learn to fight back against their body’s “aging switch.”
You read that right. According to experts, not only is it possible to slow down the appearance of aging — but most women can easily do it themselves.
That’s why the latest anti-aging trend isn’t plastic surgery or expensive creams, but a simple daily ritual that takes less than a minute to perform.
(In fact, if you’ve noticed one of your friends looking suspiciously more youthful and rejuvenated in recent months — there’s a good chance they’re already doing it at home.)
However, if you’re interested in looking significantly younger without the cost and hassle of seeing a professional, this science-backed “shortcut” is certainly worth trying at home.

THE MIDDAY TRADE
Power Surge
Thanks to AI, data centers, and EVs, electricity demand will increase significantly over the next few years. According to Wells Fargo (WFC), that spells good news for utilities investors over the long term.
The bank projects that power demand will increase by 2.6% compounded annually between now and 2030. It also believes demand will grow up to 80% by 2050, hitting 7,300 TWh.
Wells Fargo has come out with a list of stocks it thinks will benefit.
Duke Energy
The bank listed Duke Energy (DUK) as one of its top stocks in terms of “vertically integrated electric utilities in high growth areas.”
Wells Fargo is particularly excited about its Carolinas Resource Plan, which aims to supply clean energy to North and South Carolina by balancing on-demand resources such as natural gas with renewable energy sources. Duke is also considering placing wind farms off the coast of North Carolina. The plan requires over $90 billion in infrastructure investments.
Shares are up nearly 6% YTD and nearly 15% over the past 12 months. It is currently yielding 4%.
Constellation Energy
Constellation Energy (CEG) has skyrocketed over 71% YTD, despite its low yield. However, the company unveiled plans to increase the dividend by 25% and initiate a $1 billion stock buyback program.
These moves come following its 2023 announcement of a partnership with Microsoft (MSFT) to provide power to one of its data centers in Virginia. It will do so by utilizing its hourly carbon-free energy matching platform.
As AI continues to grow, so too does the energy needed to power it all. These stocks could play a major role and see significant upside.

Five years ago, the meme stock leader Keith Gill posted online that he had invested $53,000 in GameStop. As of this week, Gill’s net worth is approaching $300 million.
Gill’s most recent portfolio screenshot showed 120,000 call options against GME with a strike price of $20 that expires on June 21st.
So, if GME is above $20 on that day, Gill could be left with an additional 12 million shares, potentially setting him on the path to a billion-dollar net worth if he continues to fuel and play meme rallies effectively.
