TOMORROW’S TRADE IDEA, TODAY

Boston Beer: Full-Bodied or All Foam?

Bullish on Beer

Citi $C ( â–Œ 2.13% ) analyst Filippo Falorni could use a drink — and not just cause of the rocky economy.

Falorni recently upgraded shares of Boston Beer Co $SAM ( â–Č 0.45% ) to Buy and lifted his price target to $280. This represents an upside of around 28% from recent prices.

Sunny Outlook

The brand is rolling out a new hard iced tea, Sun Cruiser, just in time for spring. Falorni expects this push to be successful, largely due to its massive ad campaign, which has cost up to $50 million.

Boston Beer’s stock has been volatile over the years, which Falorni attributes mainly to product innovation. The Truly-parent has been hit hard by the decline of the hard seltzer fad, Falorni admits, but he sees a rebound in 2025.

Truly sales are improving and Twisted Tea is starting to see normal growth. With an added boost from the Sun Cruiser launch, Falorni expects the stock to bounce back in a big way. Additionally, its valuation is currently below its historical level, further adding to the growth outlook.

Margin Expansion

The stock is down 24% in 2025 but has started to tick up in the past month. The analyst expects its gross margins to recover back into the high 40% range thanks to the company’s strategic initiatives, which include brand expansion.

Most of Wall Street isn’t as bullish as Falorni. The majority of analysts covering the stock rate it a Hold. Its average price target sits at $268, according to MarketWatch, representing an average upside of around 17%.

But to hear Falorni tell it, Boston Beer is fuller-bodied than it looks — and might be able to provide refreshments for both investors and their portfolios.
