🛢️ Fuel for Thought

Plus, one stock goes from 'Pelosi Trade' to institutional fav...

Happy Sunday to everyone on The Street.

Well, the Cleveland Browns are officially the retail traders of the NFL. They’re down to buy the dip.

If you somehow missed the media circus, University of Colorado QB (and son of Hall of Fame CB Deion “Prime Time” Sanders) Shedeur Sanders fell harder in the 2025 draft than Apple $AAPL ( ▲ 0.44% ) after Liberation Day.

Originally projected to go early in the first round, the prospect plunged to Day 3. The Browns finally traded up to take him in the fifth round — after already drafting another rookie QB.

I got flashbacks to scooping up some NVIDIA $NVDA ( ▲ 4.3% ) stock a couple of weeks back. It certainly felt like a value at the time, compared to the company’s sky-high valuation a few months prior.

But is the bottom in? Or does it (slash he) still have plenty more time to fumble the bag?

Chevron Still Has Gas in the Tank

Chevron Barrels On

Fears of a trade war and falling oil prices have hit energy stocks like Chevron $CVX ( ▼ 0.24% ) hard. Now, Barron's says investors have an opportunity to grease the wheels and pick up a quality stock at a bargain price.

In a recent article, it argues that Chevron seems like a safe bet today, in part because the worst news is already priced in.

Plus, Chevron has no shortage of cash to help it ride out the storm. And with its share price slumping to levels we haven't seen in around three years, Barron's says the stock has become "too cheap” to ignore.

Oiling the Wheels

According to Smead Capital Management, fluctuating oil and gas prices are less of an issue for Chevron than other players. The energy giant produces, refines, and retails oil and gas. This makes it more of an energy staple than a pure producer.

For dividend investors, Chevron has even more in the tank. It has delivered 38 years of dividend increases, making it one of Dividend.com's dividend champions.

That said, the company still has some serious headwinds to contend with. There's concern over delays to Chevron's acquisition of rival Hess $HES ( ▼ 0.03% ) . It's under pressure from the Trump administration to wrap up operations in Venezuela. And its green energy initiatives could also flounder under the current government.

Fuel for Thought

Some analysts share Barron's optimism: 15 out of 27 have the stock at a Buy or Overweight. Another 11 say it's a Hold, while just one rates it a Sell.

Even so, uncertainty has caused both Barclays $BCS ( ▲ 1.22% ) and Redburn Atlantic to downgrade the stock this week.

Chevron may be able to pour oil on troubled waters, but it won't be an easy ride.

From Pelosi Trade To Institutional Fav

Targeting the Future

Tempus AI $TEM ( ▼ 1.12% ) landed on retail investors’ radars earlier this year as the latest fabled “Pelosi Trade”. Now it’s gaining steam with institutional investors too.

The precision medicine stock just picked up a Buy rating from BTIG. Analyst Mark Massaro sees the company at the center of several “megatrends” — particularly the integration of generative AI with healthcare. His $60 price target suggests shares could climb more than 13% from Friday’s close.

Speed and Scale

Founded nearly a decade ago, Tempus has hit $1 billion in revenue faster than any other precision oncology lab, according to Massaro. That pace is noteworthy, especially given the complexity of commercializing AI in healthcare.

The company’s main offering is diagnostic services for cancer, but it plans to broaden its reach to cardiology and other diseases. Massaro believes Tempus could also become a player in companion diagnostics and customized drug development.

He’s especially bullish on the company’s data play. Tempus holds one of the world’s largest molecular libraries of cancer patients, which he thinks could serve as a "free call option" for investors — a nod to the untapped potential of its data business and AI algorithms.

Data-Driven Differentiation

Tempus is projecting 30% revenue growth from its core operations this year, and the stock has already gained nearly 55% year-to-date.

This is helping boost optimism, even if investor sentiment isn’t unanimous. Just 5 of the 11 analysts covering the stock have it rated a Buy or Strong Buy, while the rest say Hold.

But in a sector often weighed down by long timelines — and a market marred by unease — Tempus stands out by aiming to move fast. BTIG believes that the company has the tailwinds in place to do so.

Apple’s rumored Face-ID door lock and smart display hub are more than just new products. It’s a clear signal: they’re going all-in on smart home automation.

The tech giant is doubling down on the smart home, the $158B industry that’s growing 23% annually.

And with Apple’s entry, investors are looking for the next breakout company - and potential acquisition target.

They’re chasing Google (acquired Nest, $3.2B) and Amazon (acquired Ring, $1.2B).

History shows: when Apple plays catch-up, they go big.

And there’s one startup perfectly positioned to benefit.

With 10+ patents, distribution in over 100 Best Buy stores, and a Home Depot launch in 2025, RYSE is built for a breakout.

Early investors in Ring and Nest saw life-changing returns.

Now, RYSE is open at just $1.90/share.

Coca-Cola's Sugar Rush

Always Coca-Cola

JPMorgan $JPM ( ▼ 0.45% ) upped its price target for Coca-Cola $KO ( ▼ 0.84% ) this week, saying the stock could be a "port in a storm." Analyst Andrea Teixeira argued the company can keep its fizz even as those around it fizzle out.

Teixeira maintained her Overweight rating on the stock and increased her target from $74 to $78. That's an 8.5% upside on Friday's close.

The beverage behemoth has significantly outperformed the S&P 500 so far this year. Its price is up more than 15%, while the S&P 500 has fallen 6%.

It's the Real Thing

Teixeira says Coca-Cola's resilience comes from its broad geographic reach and ability to roll with the punches. Underperformance in one market will often be offset by strong performance elsewhere.

Plus, it manufactures most of the concentrate for the US market in Atlanta and Puerto Rico. That makes it relatively tariff-proof, per the WSJ. It may have to swallow higher prices for imported aluminium and fruit juice, but that's a manageable issue.

Coca-Cola has an historical reputation as a recession-proof stock too. It has performed well in previous economic downturns — and has increased its dividend for the past 63 years.

Sweet Spot

Other analysts share JPMorgan's sweet tooth. According to the WSJ, 23 out of 29 rate it a Buy or Overweight. The remaining 6 have it at a Hold or Underweight.

Coca-Cola's Q1 results are due on April 29. Analysts will be looking to see how it lines up against competitors and what impact tighter regulations on sugar consumption may have on its bottom line.

Even so, it would take a lot to burst Coca-Cola's bubble right now.
