Before BOXABL, the concept of building houses in a factory seemed impractical. With their patented shipping technology, merging housing with assembly line mass production could be a game-changer. Investing in BOXABL on StartEngine is closing soon. Join 40,000 investors, invest in BOXABL today.

TOMORROW’S TRADE IDEA, TODAY

$BEAM Of Hope

Beaming With Pride

It’s not every day a stock sees a 60% price target raise. But it’s not every day a company has a breakthrough like BEAM Therapeutics $BEAM ( ▲ 0.09% ) just had.

Phase I/II trial findings are in for the biotech firm’s experimental single-base DNA editing therapies, designed to treat AATD, a rare genetic disorder with no known cure. The results? Single-base editing seems to work, with limited side effects.

As a result, Scotiabank $BNS ( ▼ 1.26% ) hiked its target price for the stock from $25 to $40. That represents an upside of more than 50% from today’s close.

Uncertain Market, Underappreciated Opportunity

It’s been a rocky start to the year for traditional “growth stocks”, such as big tech mega-caps and AI plays. The sell-off continued today, with some of the biggest blue-chip stocks now trading down double-digit percentages YTD.

Amid similar routs, some investors will turn toward the healthcare industry and related sectors like biotechnology. Demand for these non-discretionary expenses may not fluctuate much in a downturn, and innovation in the sector might be less stymied by otherwise far-reaching market forces.

That could be why Scotiabank is calling BEAM “an underappreciated market opportunity” — even in an uncertain market.

Cure for the Common Portfolio

Zooming out, it hasn’t exactly been a banner year for the sector, either.

The Medical-Biomed/Genetics Market has slumped more than 8% over the past 12 months, according to Zacks Investment Research, and BEAM has been hit especially hard. Its shares have fallen nearly 30% in the same period.

If Scotiabank is correct, that could just mean this is the ideal time to buy into an innovative company with a potential cure for a rare disease — and, perhaps, your portfolio’s woes.
