TOMORROWāS TRADE IDEA, TODAY

Is Autonomous Trucking a Paradigm Shift or a Pipe Dream?
Are We There Yet?
Tech enthusiasts have been eagerly awaiting the arrival of self-driving cars. But a related breakthrough may be here already: self-driving trucks.
Aurora Innovation (AUR) is set to launch its first driverless commercial operations between Dallas and Houston next month. Morgan Stanley (MS) thinks it could put portfolios on autopilot.
The bank initiated coverage of AUR at an Overweight rating with a $12 price target, representing around 68% upside from recent price levels.
Eyes on the Road
AUR IPOād 4 years ago, but the market has only recently taken notice. The stock stayed roughly flat for much of the past few years, before climbing some 70% over the past 6 months.
Analyst Ravi Shanker thinks that this is just the beginning. He believes Aprilās launch will mark an industry-wide milestone that will create a ālong runway of earnings growth ahead.ā The company is set to begin serial production in the next two years.
According to the analyst, we are finally on the verge of autonomous trucking, and AUR has the āmost sophisticated on-highway, Class 8 autonomous solution amongst peersā.
Out to an Early Lead
Shanker says that autonomous trucking has reached a point where it is now a viable option for commercial trucking companies.
He expects that there will be thousands of miles driven by driverless trucks within the next year alone ā and added that Auroraās early lead in the industry could make it nearly impossible for its peers to catch up.
To pragmatists, the analystās optimistic outlook may sound far-fetched. But they might have felt the same if someone predicted AIās rapid rise in October 2022. Morgan Stanley, at least, believes Aurora is as innovative as its name suggests.
